Took a weekend trip to the city. Got a phenomenal rate for a hotel in general, but ESPECIALLY in NYC. Good location in lower Manhattan, only a block or two from the subway. Never had an issue with odor like others have mentioned. Got a good nights rest and a complimentary breakfast. The food was fairly cool even early in the morning, but it was better than nothing.

Just keep your eyes peeled for this hotel. I ended up walking past it by 5 blocks because it's such a small entrance along Henry St.

Staff was pleasant . Housekeeping was generous. Gave extra towels upon request. Breakfast had a nice variety. Only downside is the fish smell from the market below. No smell in the room though. Just the elevator. Great location F train.

The location was convenient, walking distance to the F train. Surrounding restaurants are amazing. Walking distance to a lot of places. The breakfast was good. The heat didn't work so they moved my room....great customer service

Location is right in Chinatown - so if that's what you're into, you're certainly going to get it! The rooms themselves are pretty large for NYC and very comfortable, including nice big showers that feel luxurious. Really feels like a great value and a terrific home base in this part of town. Service at the front desk was friendly and fast - really have no complaints about this hotel and plenty to praise.

Staffs are nice and friendly. Price is affordable considering its geolocation, room size is larger than average inn nearby, room is clean and neat. The only drawback could be street is very noisy, and window doesn’t have a very noise cancellation ability. it might disturb your sleep, if you are living in the room that near to the street.

I stayed mostly all the hotels in lower east side of Manhattan for Vacation and or Business purposes including Mimmosa, 91, Howard Johnson etc... After few experiences, I don't hesitate looking for hotels or comparing prices and even my experience today I won't be in the future. Service and amenities is same as usual and pleasant however, I realized when I checked out yesterday, I was in rush and forgot to pack my Sonicare Electric Toothbrush from the bathtub. At the same time, I called the hotel to let them know and I was waiting for their call and I received an email from unknown Johnston, Sean the general manager of hotel and it was follow up on service and thank you email. I emailed him back the situation, and got a call from them few hours later and it's in their possession. Something that is nothing but to me it was something. With today's experience, I will be in business with this hotel in the future at least once a month with no hesitant. thank you to the manager Sean Johnston you totally earn my business

We were set to arrive on a Friday night but with the unexpected weather we were unable to get to the hotel until early morning Saturday. We had used the messaging system to say we wouldn't be in until the am but it seems There was a glitch in the system that caused us to lose our room. The staff worked diligently to get us into a room and allowed us to check our bags behind the counter for the few hours it took for a room to be ready. Once ready we were able to relocate our stuff from behind the counter to our room. Hotel was clean and staff was pleasant. However, due to the glitch they ended up charging the card on file stating we didn't have enough points to cover the room, when in fact we did. It took a few calls to get this resolved. The hotel itself was in a good location and rooms were adequate. It was just the small hiccups along the way that were just more annoying than anything.

Bang in the middle of Chinatown just off the fabled cobblestones of Orchard steer, is the Fairfield Inn, which true to its founder is a getaway, far away from the madding crowd. Yes, like other reviews point out, the stench on floor 1 can get overwhelming but then one man's stench is another's perfume. Once you get away form it, the rooms are pretty well sized for a NYC hotel, the staff are cheerful, the store is pretty good for a run and the breakfast is OK.

Essentially an off-brand Marriott, nothing wrong with that though. It’s almost as if you need to view hotels in NYC and their layouts with an adjusted perspective. Real estate is an ultra-premium so amenities will be packed tighter or eliminated. This isn’t necessarily bad, I just can’t give 5 stars.

Cozy but affordable hotel in the heart of Chinatown, nearby financial district. Great room. All the amenities to be expected from a Marriott property. Some street noise but not bad. Great complimentary breakfast.

Good hotel, but..... I stayed at this hotel a little while ago, it was nice and clean, good location close to Chinatown and a short walk (or even shorter subway ride) to TImes Square. Staff were incredibly friendly and polite. The main issue with this hotel was the nasty smell that permeated the ground floor and dining area from the restaurant or store below/next to the hotel. The entire lower floor smelled like a nasty fish market. For the cost of a room (over $200 a night) I expected a clean smelling hotel. The smell did not seem to reach the rooms, but you could definitely smell it in the upper hallways. I probably would not stay here again due to that.

I didn’t know what to expect when I arrived at the hotel. It didn’t seem to be I. The greatest area. To my surprise, the staff was super friendly and helpful. The hotel and rooms were clean. The mattress wasn’t the greatest... you could feel and hear the springs but it wasn’t too bad. The breakfast area was clean and plenty of food like scrambled eggs, bacon, breads and bagels, yogurts, oatmeal, cereal, coffee juices... many options! All-in-all, I would stay here again.

The place is new and makes the best out of the not so great situation. The room was a decent size, and the bathroom was spotless, but the shopkeepers around the hotel are continually throwing piles of garbage onto the sidewalk -- leaving an unwavering smell of it in the lobby. Other than that, a decent place to stay.

The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and the choice for the breakfast is extensive. The hotel is located in Chinatown and only 1,5 block away from East Broadway subway station. Grand St subway station is within walking distance as well. Downsides are the noise from Manhattan Bridge and the A/C that switched on every 30 mins at night

Overall the experience is ok. The hotel locates in Chinatown. It is easy to find Asian/Chinese food. Room is clean and hotel staff is friendly and helpful.

However, it is so noisy because of the train bridge above. It is the most noisy room I have ever stayed in with Marriott. I will not choose this hotel again.

Hotel is right in the China town. Wish it was in a little cleaner locality. There is a constant fish smell as soon as you step in the lobby. The room itself is ok but the walk after parking your car and back to hotel is through China time and it is smelly and not clean. Didn't like the breakfast at all and coffee is not good. Bottle water is $2 for a small one so I would advise buying outside as the water in the tap taster horrible. Overall I would not stay here again

The hotel staff were amazing. I appreciate their recommendations and friendlyness. The room was good as well. But the room service was really terrible. It took an hour to get food to me (literally an hour). Then when i got it, the portions were small, the fries were cold, and the burger was undercooked. 0/10, would not recommend the "butler" room service. It was so bad, it made the rest of an otherwise pretty good stay, pretty bad on the whole.

I was to New York with my wife and three kids (11, 8 years old and 6 months old) in October 2017 for a week time. We were hosted in the Fairfield Inn & Suites Manhattan Downtown East. The hotel is in Chinatown, very close to the Manhattan Bridge and to the Subway station of East Broadway (line F). Perhaps it's not very centric, but using the Subway it only takes you 20 minutes to get the most important places of Manhattan. The room, with two queen beds, wasn't very big. It had no space to keep the requested crib and the suitcases for the whole family. The wardrobe is symbolic. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean and well maintained. The included breakfast buffet was very complete. I only missed hot milk. The staff was very kind and helpful all the times we needed their help. Considering the price I got the room, I only can recommend this hotel for any visit to NYC.

The hotels signage isn't very big so keep an eye out but the staff was very nice and knowledge. the rooms were larger than others I've stated in elsewhere in lower Manhattan/Chinatown. The rooms are really clean, the bathroom was new and spotless (no dust in the fan vents) and while the breakfast was crowded, the food was well stocked. The gym was clean and well maintained. I'd stay here again depending on the pricing but I'd say this is a pretty good value.

Service is amazing to be honest. All the staff is just so warm and welcoming. The only reasons I am giving them a three stars is that the rooms and really small, and their breakfast does not have enough variety for dietary restrictions.

I recently went to a fairwell party held by my employer at Fairfield Inn Marriott hotel, located on 33rd & 8th Ave located on the top floor Sky lounge. The view was spectacular and stunning, its not a big place where you can have a lot of people but good for small gathering. I am so happy to have this experience. I definitely would recommend anyone just to have a small drink with a friend.

Nice and clean. Very close to the subway. Very nice breakfast and lovely staff. The only thing I could mention it's the exorbitant prices they charge at their convenience shop. I was also charged on my credit card for a room service I never ordered but speaking with the manager, they fully refund

My stay was great and exceeded my expectations for the rate I paid. I'm a New Yorker and I know that space in Manhattan is at a very high premium. I expected the room to be tiny but it wasn't. I had the one queen size bed room and there was decent walking space around both sides of the bed and the desk. The bathroom was also decently sized. I asked for a quiet room and it was as quiet as it could be for NYC in a location next to the Manhattan bridge with the noisy overhead subway trains. My room was opposite the side facing the bridge and on a high floor away from the street noise. I was very happy to see that there were light blocking drapes for the early morning daylight. I'm also particular about not having melatonin blocking lights at night when it should be dark. The digital alarm clock was the type that did not glow. Otherwise I would have placed something in front of it to block the light. The bathroom had 2 separate switches for the light and the venting fan unlike some places that have only one control for both. One of the reviewers mentioned that the air conditioner couldn't be turned off. So i expected the same when I arrived. I couldn't adjust the ac/heater unit directly but realized that there must be a room thermostat. Indeed there was. It was right next to the entrance door light switch. Next to the door was a nice looking built in closet and shelving for the microwave oven, coffee maker and fridge. The decor was modern contemporary and clean. The bed was plush and comfy. I paid $130 total for the room which included the tax and fees. I attached a bunch of photos including the room number. I stayed in room 617. The street photos were the window view during day and night. I also got a decent discount at the closest parking garage (Champion Confucius Plaza) after getting my parking ticket stamped by the hotel.
I was told that there's good complimentary hot breakfast from 6:30 to 9:00am but I didn't get the chance to try it.

Good, small room. Had every basic necessity you could imagine. But the shades were lacking in coverage, moment 6 AM hit, it was blazing sunlight and was forced to wake up. Also noisy by that's expected. Lovely Paul Mitchell branded shampoos and lotions in the bathroom. It was a solid stay.

Good option for staying on the cheap in NYC. The neighborhood is not the best, but it's well connected (metro nearby) and comfortable. Note to the staff: the elevator always smells bad. I suppose they use it to transport the trash, please do something to avoid this terrible smell.

I read several reviews for this hotel before and after my family's stay this past Thanksgiving week. I promised, the manager, Melissa, that I would write this review, so here it is. I am not affiliated with this hotel chain nor have I been compensated by Marriott in anyway for this review.
First, I want to address the two main negatives that I encountered when I read reviews. The smell and location. It smells outside. That's true. It's not the hotel's fault. It's surrounded by several authentic Asian restaurants. The food at these places is amazing and the people in the neighborhood are very meek and friendly, but the odor of freshly processed meat and seafood does linger. I hate to say it like this, but my family got "used to it" after the first 24 hrs of our week's stay so it became a non issue very fast. The location was described by a few reviews as undesirable. My wife and I have children ranging in ages 11 to 5 years old and we could come and go in and around the hotel area at all hours of the day or night. Is the area as pretty and clean as Times Square? No. But, it's the real New York, and we quickly grew to love the area's charm. I felt very adventurous, going out at night to one of the local corner stores to get snacks and drinks for my family.
Now with that being said, my review of this hotel is definitely positive! We would definitely stay there again. The breakfast food was to our liking every day we were there (and our kids can be some picky eaters.) It's not going to be a five star gourmet breakfast, but we never expected it to be. The food was always good and fresh and there was plenty of fresh hot coffee in the morning. My only real complaint about the breakfast was that I would like for it to be served earlier, like at 6am. I remember it starting promptly at 6:30am every morning. By far, the best reason to stay is THE STAFF! Melissa, Matthew, and Brandon were outstanding stars for the Marriott company, but in truth, the entire staff was always warm and very helpful to my family and me. I can't compliment them enough. One morning, there was a city water main break (again - not the hotel's fault,) and the staff went out of their way to make us comfortable, including running out to get fresh Dunkin Donuts' coffee for guests at breakfast. My only "real" complaint of the hotel is really just a suggestion to "beef up" the fitness room. I like to lift weights and the only weights in the place was a dumbbell rack. there were a couple of bikes and elipiticals and that was it. With what was provided though, the staff, again, made a great effort to provide snacks / fruit, fresh water and towels in the place. The hospitality NEVER failed at this hotel. The walk to the subway station on Madison St was never too far for even our smallest child to walk, even when tired after a day of sight seeing. As far as the view / noise is concerned. I enjoyed the view from the breakfast room, but then again, its at street level, and I never expected the view deck from the Freedom Tower. I would also frequently open my hotel room window to take in the city sounds and would often relax as the buzz of China town lulled me to sleep at night. The wife, kids, and I had such a great time in NYC and staying at this hotel, we are even considering coming back in a year or two and will look to stay here, again. Thanks Y'all! (all the way from the Lone star State.)

Enjoyed our stay last week. Water was cut-off due to a burst water main and the staff were really good and helpful. 4/5 stars due to the noisy trains on the bridge and disposable plates and plastic cutlery at breakfast. Local subway was a short walk away and loads of places to eat in Chinatown and Little Italy!

Great place to stay, the hotel inside is nice and the free breakfast is really good just remember it ends at 9. The hotel doesnt have a parking but there is a public one some blocks away. The china town is not that nice specially at night but since you are just 2 blocks from the meteo you will hardly be there. Overall a great hotel.

Great experience. Clean hotel. Manager is very nice. Breakfast is good. 2 days there were sausages and eggs. 1 day there was biscuits eggs and sausage gravy. And of course bagels, fruit, toast, cereal, waffles. Everything was fresh. I really enjoyed the breakfast. There is meter parking 2 hour max. Free on Sundays. There is a market downstairs and I've read some reviews is smells but I never smelles anything inisde. Overall it was great and is my go to hotel in Manhattan. Close drive to everything

Service was great at this location. Staff was friendly and extremely responsive. While the hotel is on a corner and unassuming, the interior is kept clean and functional. The view from the room was nice - slightly loud due to traffic noise (u can hear road nose and especially emergency vehicles). The complimentary breakfast was definitely very nice. Good spread and popular with what seemed like all the guests I never saw.

Extremely positive experience! They let us check in ealier, the beds were comfortable, free wifi, complimentary breakfast, and they held our bags for a few hours after we checked out.
