An elegant, listed, early 20th century governors mansion, Castle Hill Resort and Spa is set in the heart of Vermonts Green Mountains. With a wealth of period features, an excellent spa and fitness centre, a tennis court and delicious cuisine, this is a fabulous springboard from which to enjoy the beautiful Ludlow area.
Reminiscent of an English country house, the grand staircase, ornamental plasterwork, original 1905 wallpaper in the hall, Tiffany light fixtures and decorative woodwork create a real historic charm. Succumb to the tranquil atmosphere and while away the time in the old carriage house, which is now home to a pampering spa.
Okemo Mountain Resort with its ski trails is close by and is perfect for cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, sledding and sleigh rides. In the summer, the choice of activities is just as diverse with golf and fly fishing, outdoor concerts and tours of picturesque covered bridges.
The Castle Hill Resort and Spa is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property.
Two hours north-west of Boston and four hours north of New York City in quaint village surrounded in the lush Vermont countryside with tall pines, colorful maple trees and flowing rivers and streams.

Very relaxing. Flawless service. Had a couple of minor issues that were resolved very timely and politely. Highly recommend this resort. Although I really don't want it to get popular, it was really enjoyable.

I was finding some places online to visit just to get some relaxation and there I stumbled upon castle hill resort and spa in group on which really offered a good deal. There are two kind of deals and I took the weekend deal which costed me 369$ for couple of days. This is a lovely rustic historical hotel surrounded by green mountains. We took a queen room. Room is quite basic with an ac, tv mind you there was no bath tub. The hotel was calm in the morning and I had a good time reading books sitting in their sit out and library. How ever their menu was quite costly so we opted to explore cavendish and eat outside. Evenings it gets little crowded and the live music was so pleasant.

Went to the restaurant for our anniversary. We both got a three course meal, and were full by the time the entree was brought out. The food was amazing, the service was great. The price was higher than we were used to, but well worth the dining experience.

Lovey location. Went for a midweek overnight stay with my sister using a groupon, which was very reasonable. There appeared to only be one other room rented besides ours on a Thursday night, which was a bit eerie being in a big old mansion and not hearing anyone else. Loved the outdoor heated pool, hot tub, and covered seating area - great for a sip on a cold January day! Sauna inside the ladies room at the spa/fitness center was a welcomed surprise. Restaurant at the castle was delicious, we did the prix-fixe menu (had a coupon to use toward prix-fixe from the groupon but was otherwise reasonably priced) and had leftovers, the filet and beef Wellington were delicious, mussels app was so large it could have been a meal on its own! There was a nice, modern lounge converted from the old library which had a few games (though not fully stocked with all their pieces) and a lit fireplace. Guest rooms were spacious, nicely furnished, large quaint bathroom. Definitely recommend!

Loved this place!! So much character and beauty with an amazing history. Doesnt have traditional amenities and no elevator but if you can climb the steps its a wonderful experience. All of the staff members were wonderful and went above and beyond what we would expect, even when we visited The Pointe.

They were not on their best behavior when I was in there. But the manager called and made it up to me. The staff is very nice and personable. Try the hot tub!

It's great for a nice quiet get away. Personnel is quite nice. Rooms are very comfortable. Not much to do, but you'll find things to do. Local shops are quiant and have lots of history. I'm giving the Hotel a 4 🌟 bc the breakfast buffet isn't good. But you can find places to eat. We went to Ludlow to the Hatchery....it's awesome food with extra large portions. Staff is friendly and attentive. Facilities are clean and we'll kept.
If you want to get away, this is the place to escape city madness. Kid and pet friendly!

Had a great time. We went in August, so it was not in the most popular season, but still very busy, and we found a lot to do in the area. We enjoyed exploring the covered bridges, Woodstock, and Cavendish. The massage at the spa was an awesome way to start our stay. Dinner was incredible and service was excellent. Prices reflect the place's charm and character. I expected some of the "charm", but could not get pass the tub surround to enjoy a bath. There are some places where you just have to know upkeep has been done.

Our suite at the Pointe Hotel at the Castle Hill Resort was spacious and well furnished. The full kitchen offered tableware and all sorts of utensils, full sized fridge, stove with oven, microwave and dishwasher. A small closet in the bathroom held a washing machine and dryer. The living room included a gas fireplace which we didn't use, along with pull out beds for three. Closet space was generous, as was drawer space. The bathroom was roomy, with a jacuzzi tub and shower, and featured SOFT towels
The hotel offers a continental breakfast or a hot buffet in a sunny room. Cold buffet (7.95) included cut up fruit, a choice of cold cereals, bread, English muffins, two kinds of baked muffins, Danish and turnovers. The hot buffet (11.95) also included blueberry pancakes and French toast, real maple syrup, scrambled eggs and hash browns. Coffee and tea are always available throughout the day in the lobby.
The hotel offers a good sized indoor pool, hot tub, and a workout room with machines and weights.
On the property, the restaurant in the Castle, an elegant stone mansion once belonging to a governor of Vermont, offers several guest rooms as well as breakfast available to all guests. (9.95). It also serves dinner in a beautiful oval dining room with gorgeous panelling, mirrored doors and built in China closets. Menu offers beef Wellington, lamb, salmon, steak, a nice Caesar salad and tempting desserts.
Also on the property is a day spa offering a full menu of massage options with therapists who give a great deep tissue massage as well as Swedish. The spa includes a gym for those booking a massage. Others may use the facilities for a nominal fee. The outdoor year-round heated concrete pool is also available to spa patrons as part of the package, and to Pointe guests for a small fee.
Staff is universally pleasant, making every effort to respond to guest requests

Neither castle, nor resort. Stayed here on a deal for $99 a night. Would have been very upset to spend more. The "free" WiFi is spotty. (It says you have to pay for room WiFi, but I managed to get the lobbies wifi from our room) The Continental breakfast that you eat just because it's free at a Holiday inn costs 9.95 a person here (think cold cereal). The castle was an old stone mansion that seems to still have many original features.... But not in a cool way. In a slightly delapidated, torn wallpaper, hole in the ceiling, roof slate falling off, kind of way.
The bed was comfy. The room was spacious, and the staff was nice. The rooms were clean (other than the gross looking hole in the corner I couldn't stop staring at) the pool was clean, and the game room looked fun. (Although you have to pay for everything) the jacuzzi tub in room was a big plus.
Conclusion: I imagine this to be a very cozy room to come back to after a day of skiing. kind of stuffy and old feeling for a summer visit. Would have been upset if I paid full price.

This was our first time in this part of beautiful Vermont. The Castle Hill Resort and Spa is a beautiful quiet, clean and friendly secluded gem and just what the body and soul needs without all the frills and noise!

Rooms at The Castle are decorated with period furnishings which provide an early 1900s feel. Rooms at The Pointe are more modern. Both types of accommodations are well kept

Really cool place. There's strange calmness about it.
Castle rooms were big and spacious. A lot of original items from when the house was first built. The water has a high mineral content so it feels harder than normal when showering (Makes you appreciate modern homes). Food was good.

My husband and I were staying here to celebrate our 5 year wedding Anniversary. It was a great choice and we would definitely choose it again. The anniversary package included dinner and massages. The nearby town was just the right amount of local for two very much out of towners. We were even able to utilize a majority of the grounds to have professional photographs done by Crickett polis of polis photography. Highly recommend!

My husband and I had a wonderful time. The grounds are gorgeous and the Aveda spa was lovely. The Castle is all done in period antique furniture and accessories- the rooms are pretty with large 4 poster beds...my favorite rooms are 12 and 8. The restaurant was amazing...the chef made our dinner incredible. Order the french martinis...the bruchetta was great and so was our beet salad! The local area is fun and beautiful...so romantic. We loved our stay so much we have gone back 3 times - try the salt water pool and hot tub. If you want superior customer service ask for Carmen - she made us feel so welcome and answered all our questions.

Stayed in a 1 bedroom condo. Beautiful place! Restaurant was wonderful for dinner. The spa OMG loved it as first time massage customers. Wish the restaurant had a full breakfast. If so would never have to leave. Very happy overall!

This place is beautiful! I have been in Summer and Winter- going back this week hopefully for a Spring visit! There is a really pretty waterfall close by to hike to which is fun! The rooms are so pretty and the library is amazing. The dining area in the castle is beautiful as well. So amazingly romantic and pretty for couples looking to go back in time together! The staff has always been super nice.
You really can't beat a weekend away here for the price. I see a lot reviews complaining about it being a little shabby but it's fine. Like staying with your grandma that can't keep up like she used to. The restaurant was good too! We came up from Boston and we have eaten in all the best Steakhouses abd this place was right up there with it. Don't stay at the Pointe unless you are skiing. We stopped by there and it's not very nice. The spa was pretty lackluster as well, but again you get what you pay for.
