A lovely clean modern hotel. Breakfast was so fresh and hot. Most of all the staff was so helpful and pleasant. John was outstanding with his help and kindness to my mother who uses a walker to get around. I'll be definitely be back. Thanks

Absolutely fantastic hotel. The staff really went above and beyond to ensure our stay was the best. The hotel has been recently renovated and it is very nice and modern inside but still with a touch of an old school upmarket hotel. Only one slight negative was that the rooms were very warm at night but this was due to rather unseasonable warm days and nights at the time. Food is also very nice in the Met restaurant and the leisure center was also very pleasant. Next time I am in Cork I will be checking availability here!

Scott at the front desk is pure gold. So helpful, thoughtful and polite. Even the single room I was able to procure was excellent, the use of the space was well thought out and the fixtures and furnishings were of a great standard.
I had no option but to stay here due to no other rooms being available in the whole of Cork city and surrounding areas but now I'm glad that was the case.
Perfect location, perfect staff and to be honest...for the quality...I was happy to pay the price.
Thank you.

If you're going to Cork this is the best place to stay very central every thing within walking distance great places to eat. The staff treated my wife and I to a five star service. I would highly recommend The Metropole,if I could give it Ten Stars I would.

Very nice hotel. The site that we booked on was messed up the reservation, however, the hotel gave us a free dinner to make up for something that wasn't their mistake. Be ery kind and understanding staff.

Really great place right downtown in Cork. The staff was excellent! Stay was great. Breakfast was reasonably priced and while basic, had what we needed. Service the entire time was on point. Excellent gym as well!

I have never stayed the night here, but I have attended many functions over the years. Its one of the best looking buildings in the city, inside and out. It's always clean, staff are always friendly and attentive. I really like this hotel.

Had a wonderful family dinner there on Paddy's Day, after walking for over an hour in the city looking for somewhere that wasn't crowded. We walked across to the other side and I wish we had done so earlier. We had a nice relaxing dinner and everything was lovely.

Recently held an event here for almost 200 people and can’t rate highly enough. From the food to the bedrooms it’s really top class. The bedrooms are newly renovated and the 4th floor rooms have a great view over Cork City. The management team were a pleasure to deal with and they couldn’t have done more to accommodate our needs. Would recommend highly for any event or just to stay the night and enjoy a city centre hotel.

John The Magnificent Concierge and Emmit The Fabulous Front Desk Manager took great care of me, listing out superior recommendations in and around Cork to eat and visit. Extreme value added. Plus hotel is well located, and very cool historically!

Love this hotel, stayed here every year for the past four years. Great location for city locations. Lovely staff, reception and bar restaurant. Our only criticism is the chefs in the kitchen have no love in presenting food, it’s very bland and often served Luke warm. No care in presenting good food.

It's time for a makeover in the Met Bar, the main bar of the Metropole Hotel. The photo of the bar on the hotel website does not look like the bar we were sitting in. It's tired now and could do with some glamming up. Staff are efficient but not very friendly, we ordered a pint and a prosecco. The latter could have been more chilled. Only advantage is that it was not busy at all on a Saturday night which meant plenty of seating available. Great location

...my son booked me in. I had come down to Cork to join him to see Brian Adams in the Marquee. Made it up to my floor in the ancient lift and trying to `swipe` my door-card the door wouldn`t open... stuck with my luggage in front of my door... got help from a room-service guy who happened to pass by...left my luggage in the room to collect new swipe-cards... room completely overheated and no way of setting the room-temperature, leaving the windows open, looking out to sad red brick-walls and rundown yards, roofs and downpipes.... the show was absolutely fantastic, the night was not comfortable because of the room-temperature, although I liked the bath-room and the bed... hell, it was only one night....

Nina made our stay so enjoyable! We have been traveling from Dublin and throughout Southern Ireland and so far our stay in Cork has been our favourite! From an amazing room to assistance with dinner and breakfast she has been an amazing help! The hotel is beautifully updated and the view is breathtaking! Drinking fresh pressed coffee on the veranda has topped the stay! Thank you Nina and the rest of the amazing staff!

Single room was pretty small! This is unfortunate! Otherwise good hotel. However, I would not recommend the swimming pool and sauna. Especially the sauna is very unhygienic as no one uses towels to sit on to protect the wood (is this the Irish way to use the sauna?).

We stayed in your hotel 3 nights end of November 2016 the hotel was very cold, food over cooked, Carpets are torn a notice near the lift to say they are having a facelift could not see any work being carried out.
we would not have stayed if we had not paid in advance. However we found the Staff polite and friendly.

I have stayed here a number of times because it is well located and is close to everything that I want to see while in the city. They claim that you get the best price by booking directly with them rather than thought any third party and that does appear to be true to some extent.
I was interested in booking a room for two nights in July 2017 [I plan well in advance] and the best price that I could get through any of the well known services was Euro 198.00 for two nights which is exactly the same as what was available booking through the hotels website. However, if I paid in advance the price via the hotel’s site was Euro 178.20. [To be fair the 10% reduction is available up to 7 days before the actually stay however I am willing to bet that the prices will have increased between now and next July].
I have given four rather than five stars because I have had street noise issues in the past and also because I consider the pricing to be a bit on the high side.

Nice Hotel in the centre of Cork.
The rooms a very tidy and the bed is comfortable.
Since it is directly in the the city, some rooms can be a bit noisy due to the traffic and the bus stop which is behind the Hotel at the River. So at night windows might to be closed and there was no air conditioning.
The breakfast buffet is great and there is anything you want from Full Irish Breakfast to cereals and fruits.
The leisure center is great too and complementary for hotel guest, please consider to use swimming caps if you want to swimming.

Very disappointing and service was terrible. Explained to the barman that we were under time pressure and still ended up waiting 40minutes for a duck spring roll!!! Not impressed and won't be heading back. Also, as it was a Tuesday night and there were very few in the bar, it's not like they were under pressure!

Nicely appointed & comfortable hotel. Chosen for it's proximity to Kent Station & the main shopping area (Big dept. stores etc).
Didn't have dinner but the breakfast was v nice & well cooked.
TV's need "dragging into the 21st century" but that's a small niggle.
Free WiFi. Accessible. So many places make this a faff.
Will be staying, again, over the winter.

It doesn't say any where on the web site at all that there is a hot tub in the room but there is. Worth every euro.
I think our concierge John Coleman is what made our time here stand out. As we arrived at the front of the building, he not only greeted us but he walked us up to the check-in counter (despite our being very early) and got the process going. He stored our luggage so we could explore Cork until our room was ready, but before we left he went over a map to orient us to where we were and things we may want to see. He also provided a small attractions booklet with his contact information on it in case we ran into any problems. Throughout our stay he went out of his way to make us feel welcome and appreciated. Knowing how many guests must stay here on any given day, it's nothing short of a miracle that he can keep everyone straight! The front desk staff was really pleasant, and our room was clean and spacious. We had a nice view of the river. We arrived during a heat wave, the likes of which they hadn't seen in 40 years -- and of course the building had no air conditioning, so they went out and purchased fans for the rooms! When our comforter felt too heavy, the front desk provided an extra sheet at our request so we could use that instead. The concierge additionally gave us ideas on where to eat, drink and catch music and he'd check in with us every time we'd return. Metropole is very centrally located, so it's easy to walk anywhere in town. When it was (sadly) time to check out, he called a taxi for us and stood outside with us until it arrived. The service was truly above and beyond. Every hotel should have a John Coleman.
