My husband and I were in Austin for a wedding and the rehearsal dinner was at the hotel and was one of two recommended stays for out of town guests. We had a wonderful experience and will not only go back but we will request the same room. We came with a dog and it was perfect to have a room in the extension with a private enclosed outdoor space outside the bedroom. The room and bathroom were very clean with nice quality sheets and towels, a perfect size nice bathroom. Only thing missing was a nice tub. The staff was great, bar has delicious top quality cappuccinos and the price was good. We highly recommend it!!!

Typically my go to for when my in-laws come in town; however, they're now under new management and do not allow for any cancellations/refunds on room bookings, even over a month out. Will be booking different hotel for my guests in the future.

Edit 11/23/22: I appreciate Mr. Wilson reaching out and making this right. My in-laws' money was refunded, as our plans for Christmas changed. They love staying at hotel Ella and will be back for another visit next year. Thank you again.

i absolutely loved staying at this historic mansion turned modern boutique hotel with my family when my daughters were kindergartners.

We arrived a little before midnight but the property was well lit and easy to find. There was no line or wait at the valet or check in. The front desk stuff was friendly, helpful with our young children, got us checked in and into our rooms quickly.

The interior of the hotel is beautifully designed, the food at the hotel restaurant was good, the room was spacious and very clean.

Centrally located next to the University of Texas, within 1 mile of Austin Public Library and just a 15 minute car ride to the Thinkery.

I’ve wanted to stay here for quite some time. I’m delighted to report that it exceeded my high expectations. Our dogs stayed free and were welcomed. Drinks in the bar were delightful. Our time relaxing on the grand porch was wonderful. We’ll be back.

Location is pretty good, situated a few blocks west of the campus. The rooms are modernized and the staff was very hospitable. Due to limited parking though, you may have to valet park. The onsite restaurant is pretty nice as well.

Very boutique and quiet hotel. The pool is small, yet comfortable. The bar is great but beware, because it can get very crowded in the evening. If you want an authentic and quiet place with history, go here.

This gem is a welcome surprise. But the gym is after the maze! Perfect for a business trip or short stint. Excellent decor and atmosphere just watch out for the mosquitos out front...

Awesome staff, facility and amenities. I stayed overnight on my last night of a week long stay in Austin and it was excellent, clean, and the staff are top notch. This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in quite a while. Everything in my room was a hit. I would definitely recommend this place and can't wait to go back when in the area for work.

We drove downtown after attending a wedding in Wimberly and were pleasantly greeted even at midnight. The room was perfectly clean, and the bed was one of the more comfortable night sleeps I've had in a while. We didn't get in the pool, but we did sit by it for a few minutes to unwind and found it to be relaxing and well taken care of. We'll definitely be returning here!

Beautiful place. Friendly and helpful staff. Just wish they had a chair in the room and a more comfortable pad on the window seat.

They have an amazing location and make the best of it. A small pool, parking garage and some event space all packed into a corner lot next to the University campus. Friendly staff make your stay welcoming, like a visit to a favorite Auntie.

Such a beautiful place. The room was large and well appointed. Shelby was a delight. Will is a talented barkeep. Sammy works hard and was a comforting presence. This really was a wonderful stay and I'd gladly recommend anyone stay there.

I've helped to host two large donor events here- a gala and a derby party, held a large personal brunch party, enjoyed drinks with friends, and have directed many out of town guests to stay here. The management team and staff know what they are doing, and the space really shines after the transformation it underwent in renovations a few years back. Definitely a great spot for a nice business meeting, family meet-up, or event.

I have stayed at this hotel, but was here most recently for an all day session in the meeting room with a local Austin company. The staff was very quick to address any questions we had about the room. The catering was very good and everything was prepared according to our requested timing. The room was a little small for our group as we were in the upper room, which I am told us a bit smaller...other than that, we had a great experience.

The only negative comment I have us the valet service. I was wanting to leave the hotel during rush hour and they were clearly overwhelmed with trying to help the amount if people wanting to leave. I waited about 20 minutes for my car, which was due to a miscommunication by the valet guys and very unusual, however, no apology was given.

As a delivery driver who has never actually stayed there, I cannot comment on the state of the rooms or service. The location is great, as it's a quick bike ride to downtown. The folks who work there are always extraordinarily pleasant and helpful when I arrive to deliver, and so I can only assume the same sense of courtesy is extended to their guests.

There are so many things that I loved about our time at Hotel Ella, originally the historic Goodall Wooten House, built in 1900 but recently updated to a chic, boutique hotel named one of Austin’s best. It was truly charming and felt like home during what was a chilly weekend in Texas. We absolutely loved coming back to our warm, comfy room after being out and about. It felt clean and luxurious, and, it was always a pleasure to be greeted by the friendly staff. Their in-house restaurants, Goodall’s Kitchen and The Parlor Bar were delicious and quite popular as well, such a treat to have breakfast in bed, only a call away.

Our room was spacious and had easy access to a luxurious porch overlooking downtown. My husband and I spent a whole afternoon on the porch working and it was perfect. We also loved how they brought by a small container of fresh water each night, how cute is that?! In-room breakfast was so great that we ordered it two of the three mornings we stayed at Hotel Ella. And, if we wanted to get out, it was never more than a 15 minute drive anywhere on our “Austin bucket list”!

We travel a lot! And, I highly recommend this chic hotel!

PS: Hotel Ella also hosts weddings on their beautiful grounds with delicious in-house catering. So if you’re a bride-to-be looking for an iconic spot in Austin to be wed, I’d check this place out for a classic Texas wedding!

Was disappointed with room. Tiny with sloppy ceilings in main house. They moved us but it cost us extra 40$ per night. Don't be fooled by nice images on website! Since then things OK but complimentary car service was not available when we needed it so had to pay for taxis and just got back tonight and valet service had nobody so had to go into reception (opposite direction to room) to drop off keys as nobody was there. Just disappointed by service especially for price of room and valet service per day/night. -----UPDATE--- At checkout they were extremely apologetic about the room and valet situation and actually very generously removed the upgrade fee and the the valet costs (we did not ask for this). I have never experienced such a desire to improve our experience. The only shame is they didn't do it earlier so that it didn't taint our whole stay. That said, I'm really impressed and surprised and would advise that if you do have any issues speak to the manager!

Cute boutique hotel. Watch out for eaves rooms in the basic Queen set, not as light and airy as pictured online, but quality of room and housekeeping is great. Food in the restaurant was great. Website says complimentary car service, but we had some problems. Spoke to management at checkout and received fantastic customer service and problem resolution, so would definitely stay again.

The hotel bar is a lovely place for happy hour... Wish the bar snack menu was a little broader but the cocktails are wonderful (try the Old Fashioned!) and the ambience is charming and fun. I love the holiday decorations! And free valet parking makes it easy too.

This is a review on Goodall's Kitchen and bar. Fantastic service, great appetizers (always get the crab cakes SO GOOD) and the atmosphere is outstanding. Great place to stop in and get. A couple of drinks before or after a night out. Highly recommend!

Stayed here for 10 days during our trip to Austin. This place was such a delight to come back to after a full day of touristy things. The valets are friendly and quick, the staff at the front desk are very kind (giving great recommendations on places to visit, too!). The rooms are clean and aesthetically appealing.

Would definitely return.

Well the service is great. I had originally booked a poolside room, so when I was taken to my room I was unable to find any pool views. They had switched my room without notifying me first which I think should have been said. It was a wedding and I got there a little past 11PM which I think is the time they release your room. To top it off the shower handle broke do hot water ran for quite a while till maintenance eventually fixed it (2~3 hours). I refused to check until I could take a shower, I didn't pay that much for substandard service. They did refund the vallet costs so I'll give them that. I also inquired about the room rates, because I did pay for poolside, they said they are all the same. Still have to fact check that one. They should've been more forward with me about the room situation to begin with because I was completely confused till I asked the next day. And the shower faucet was not properly sealed; it was about 1/8 from the wall, and could see the actually seal hanging there. No biggie just know what to expect.

It was a pretty venue. I went there for a wedding venue tour and it had everything you could need. I didn't get a chance to see the hotel rooms so cannot comment on that

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around...

The hotel Ella is gorgeous. Its casual elegance is beautiful, and the atmosphere in the Goodall Kitchen wonderful. My husband and I had afternoon tea for my birthday, and it was such a special experience. I would recommend it to anyone. Delicious truffles, macarons, finger sandwiches and poppy seed scones. The tea is sourced in Austin and comes in varying levels of flavors and caffeine so kids can enjoy a caffeine-free tea. Dress is as casual or formal as you want. There is no dress code. It was very fun on a Saturday afternoon. I'll remember this for a long time.

Hotel Ella was the perfect place to stay for our first wedding anniversary. Everyone was very kind and accommodating. They did many small things that made our trip easy and stress free such as: providing a car service for any location within 3 miles, delivering our luggage to the room, and personally walking us to the room. I highly recommend this hotel!
