This is a beautiful hotel, the rooms are well sized, well equipped and beautifully maintained. The pool area can get a bit busy when the hotel is full, but is still a great place to relax and swim. As always the staff are universally excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. The fact that standards have not dropped when so many other luxury hotels are penny inching is a credit to everyone at the hotel and its management. I will be back yet again for sure

It is definitely a special occasions kind of. Place as it will burn a deep hole in your pocket but the experience will be memorable. The staff, the ambience and the food along with the overall experience are top Notch.

One of the best and expensive place but worth once a visit. I went there for coffee and deserts and coffee was not that expensive but deserts are expensive. Nice to go with friends and family. The food is good and ambiance is also very good. Fine dine. Check the bill once before paying there might be a printing mistake.

It located in an awesome part of town. Access to the hotel however is really confusing with entrances at different places. The coffee shop doesn't have direct access to the hotel floor. The conference rooms weren't equipped to handle guests coming in for different meetings. We had a few guests who had to stand in the lobby and wait their turn. Would've been nice to have a few chairs or a waiting room as a temporary measure. The food was decent though. Loved their lotus root salad.

My experience at The Taj Mahal Palace was simply superb. I had a room in the sixth floor, as soon as I entered there was a blast of perfumed air that refreshed my tired self from within. The colour, vibe and ambience of the place made everything feel very comfortable and warm to the eyes. All the amenities were provided, the washroom was clean and hygienic. I stayed for a night and everything was top of the class, the comfort level was outstanding and I had a fantastic stay without any complaints about the staff or the room. Will be returning again soon, highly recommended if you are on a short vacation or a business trip.

My experience summed up in a word - Phenomenal. This property of Taj is one of the premiere luxury properties located in India. Living up to its fame, cleanliness and hospitality are absolutely spot on! Rooms in the palace wing are lavish and house keeping staff do a good job in keeping it impeccable. A fabulous hotel with fantastic staff who make your stay absolutely wonderful. The staff are always on hand to help with any needs and are extremely friendly and attentive. They make you feel special.

From check in to check out, the service was smooth. We had some noise issues on the first night due to road works outside and this was immediately resolved the following day with a change of room. No fuss at all and they were also generous to offer us an upgrade, which I was very surprised and pleased about. They took great detail in making sure we had a pleasant stay and even down to being personally spoken to by the manager of the hotel.

The hotel has great ambience, beautiful decor, and ample facilities, all perfectly looked after with great pride and love. I would strongly recommend the spa and salon for some pampering sessions. It was blissful.

The surroundings of the hotel is impeccable, every corner you spot something beautiful, be it the architecture, the decor or the flowers and plants. The housekeeping team and the gardening team do such a great job in keeping the place looking fantastic. Always around checking on things and making sure it is perfect, even down to the flowers petals arrangements in your room.

You get a strong sense that everyone around genuinely wants you to be happy and enjoy your stay in every step of the way. The teamwork and communication between all the different departments is great to see.

The hotel is an amazing property to stay in... It is a little on the expensive side but the view of the Gateway of India is worth watching... One of the oldest and best property of Taj groups of hotels.. There are a few restaurants just a few steps away from Taj and also the very famous colaba cause is a walking distance from there. It is a very good property with very kind and lovely service.

Five stars of excellence. My wife and I came here as part of our honeymoon package and we will never forget our time here. They upgraded us to a huge suite as a honeymoon gift and we were treated like royalty. Our butler Ravi was so perfect in his service. Not too much and not too little, just perfect. We will forever be grateful for the excellent hospitality and service. We were very very sad to leave but one day we shall return.

I was quarantined in Taj for 14 days. A big thank you to the staff who always checked in on me and ensured I had a comfortable stay. I was also given a surprise cake on my birthday :) Would definitely recommend Taj!

We have had a thoroughly enjoyable few days at the Taj Mahal Palace.
The building is magnificent - beautifully maintained and embedded in history.
The staff are sublime. Expert in making you feel special, they are happy to help, with exceptional courtesy and efficiency.
The food in each venue is varied and all of the same impeccably high standard.
Our room is large and spotlessly clean. There is sufficient furniture without appearing cluttered. The bed is very comfortable with luxurious linen. The marble bathroom is spacious with a terrific shower and a lovely bath.
Finally, the pool is huge, warm and never particularly busy. It is absolutely perfect after a stroll through the fascinating streets of Mumbai.
We would thoroughly recommend the Taj Mahal Palace to everyone, and would return in a heartbeat.

Unforgettable

One of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in, with impeccable service, customer focused service and beautiful architecture and decor. This was a very special 1,5 days stay for my mum's birthday and we were treated with a free upgrade to Club rooms, her bedrooms was full of treats to celebrate her anniversary and we felt very well looked after. The pool was fantastic, they would even offer you mist and towels for a bit of a refresh. Absolutely wonderful views and the whole setting is just out of this world. We stayed in the main building and would certainly not be open to stay at the adjacent Tower. Well done Taj. Keep it, as is, forever.

Exceptional experience. We were upgraded from the tower to a palace room overlooking the pool. A remarkable heritage hotel with excellent service and hospitality, beautiful turn of last century design and structural features. An absolute treat and one of many highlights to our Indian adventure. If you are able to do so, a stay here is very much value for money.

Breakfast and afternoon tea were lovely, catering service was efficient, professional and courteous - second to none.

A very Happy and welcoming hotel although it was an intimidating thought that I should be able to settle the bill.
Staff is not stiff upper lip type which I expected to find.
Infact I felt most welcome within a few minutes.
Captain almost knew my taste so ordering was a breeze.
Starters came in followed by dinner.
Surprise came in the form of Anniversary cake (complementary).
Photo session was the pleasant surprise.

Iconic hotel in South Mumbai. I've stayed there a few times over the years. The latest visit was in April 2018. Service in the hotel is always warm and friendly. The room quality in the tower wing has improved over the last couple of years post renovation. The palace wing remains excellent. Great breakfast and food options. Overall, my preferred hotel in this part of the city.

Outstanding, stunning, simply the best and most amazing hotel I’ve been. historic palace with a great and impressive architecture. everything in the hotel goes down to the smallest details, it’s really so special and precise. what excited me most was the warm and caring attitude of the hotel staff. they so charming and helpful, whatever you need they will be there for you. the rooms are beautiful and huge with a great view. the entrance to the hotel is very imposing, it’s a big wow.. the lobby is beautifully decorated and again you can see it in every corner.
for me this hotel is the best because all those amazing people that work there.

Everything here is meant for you to relax. View on the gateway for India is great. Good restaurants and shops and access by walk to many interesting places around.

You can't really not give 5* to this wonderful palace to service and style. Just a heads up tho, we weren't advised taking the evening tour needed booking in advance, however the Taj staff came up with a solution and we were able to tag along and listen to the history tour, we simply didn't have the benefit of the audio supplement service.
Love the simple beautiful memorial to those killed in the dreadful attack, including remembering the security dog Lucy. Kudos Taj Mahal Palace

Wow what a place. The lobby and the flower arrangement in the lobby is out of the world. Very busy place. If you just walk in without table booking, it's almost impossible to get entry into any restaurant here. It is recommended to have your table booked well in advance. The indian restaurant is lovely although little more on price but the quality and service is out of the world

An historic place and iconic infrastructure! It is located just opposite to Gateway Of India. Location is fabulous, giving great views. Street outside is usually crowded. But, apart from that you'll love the stay and food. There are many restaurants available inside. Stay offers you royale luxury! It's just awesome!!!! Situated at the Gateway of India symbolically to offer a comfortable stay to those entering India from this gate (Interestingly the Hotel was built before the Gateway of India!). The Security is considerate enough to avoid body checks unless required. The staff is cordial. Food is great. And beautiful views both inside and outside enhance the overall experience.

It's super place to make your day. I was amazed on my visit to this place. Unbelievably awesome ambience. Lobby itself is great. Then the shopping room is amazing. I tried their restaurant on first floor. Food was awesome. There's also a pool side place to dine. Crowd is great. You will feel you are in a different world. There is no entry fees. Atleast one must visit this place.

And now what to say about the main Taj hotel of India. This hotel is itself inspiring. One look at it and u return to the colonial India. The ambience,staff,food everything is just great. The guided tour is an awesome experience for history geeks like me. Although there are 4 Taj hotels in Mumbai, this hotel has a special kind of aura which attracts each and every person towards itself!

They entire team makes you feel Royal 👑 The food is okay would have been so much better if the food was also great like all the other services provided. Overall Amazing!! The rate is something you can't expect the same to be like a normal restaurant and hotel.

No doubt about luxury. It’s amazing. Place is usually crowded. Everything inside is expensive. The hotel is very spacious. You will find some of the brands of retail shops inside. They make little different infrastructure. I went here just to had coffee. The taste of little bitter. So given 1 star less. Starbucks coffee is having more quality taste and price is half comparatively Taj. If you are going for the experience only then it is good.
Lots of restaurants are also there inside. Ask at the reception what you want, they guide you properly.

The staff at this hotel is exemplary. The service is incredible. The hotel is clean and comfortable. Every effort was taken to accomodate my family's needs. Ask for a seafacing room for an amazing sunrise view.

Have been waiting to visit this place from quite sometime... finally went there for dinner. They have bifurcated restaurants as per the cuisine served so we visited SHAMIANA as it serves Indian food. But I expected the menu to be extensive which was not the case. Very few options for vegetarians. Ambience was classy. Food was average. At the end we also got ourselves registered for the loyalty card membership, wherein on every visit to any of the Taj hotels you get points which can be redeemed later.

I think great stays go with the name! They made our anniversary stay SO awesome! We got an upgrade to the palace wing with an amazing view of the sea and the Gateway of India! The high tea at Sea Lounge with the killer view was great and we got complimentary access to the palace lounge for the cocktail hour and cognac & chocolate hour too! And a complimentary foot massage! A special thank you to Glen who helped us right from check-in... Thing that struck me most - same service and courtesy for desis as for foreigners!

Great location in front of Gateway of India. Very strategic with shops, food in this location. My room was amazing with views to the Arabian sea and the Gateway! Room was very spacious on level 4!!! Don't worry about having to book tours, as once you walk outside the hotel, there are many guys selling city tours etc ( up to 10 pm I still seen them walking around). Most shops in that location close at 1 am!!

This place cannot be reviewed by people like me. This place is for royals and blue-bleeded people. Best hospitality you can imagine. It's got a character that you will never experience anywhere else. Leaving the place felt like the end of something beautiful. There's no way someone looking to stay here is ever going to read this review.

What does one say about this iconic hotel? It is beyond comparison in service, in elegance, in its features and facilities, its views, its food. Simply the best. Even amongst similar super luxury hotels, the Taj Mahal stands apart for the thoughtfulness of little details, its unobtrusive luxury, and certainly its historic architecture. Rooms typically begin at $300 onwards. Meals at its restaurant for a single person costs around $150 per person. The shops and stores in the hotel offer exclusive products that, if you can afford them, you will not find them elsewhere. Some of the products of known brands are not available elsewhere except at the Taj. The gym and the pool are superlative. It would be a shame to stay at this hotel and not have the time to enjoy it.

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be King. I wanted to rule, and to live as an emperor does. Eat as a ruler eats, drink as aristocracy drinks and feel the comfort that is reserved for God's chosen. My megalomania aside, I'm aware that this is a dream unlikely to come to fruition. But in 2009, thanks to the greatest financial scandal that India has ever faced (yes thanks to it!) I was brought in to investigate it and had the divine privilege to stay at the Taj Mahal Palace for almost a year.

From the moment I arrived to the moment I finally left, I was made to feel like a king. From the familiar, "Welcome back Mr. Sharma, we have upgraded your room..." to the little touches (my favourite fruits delivered to my room each morning, getting me headache medication in the middle of the night, even packing my favourite foods for me in a box to take with me to the office at the breakfast table), to the downright exquisite cuisine, the understated yet extravagant decor, invitations to the celebrity laden events at the hotel, decorating my room when my wife joined me for a week (down to the delicious cake); there are too many things that I could praise and not enough words.

I had arrrived shortly after the hotel reopened after the Mumbai attack, and yet everyone bravely went about making the customer, the centre of attention. What this hotel is, is what every hotel isn't. And that is a haven for a traveller. A haven that undoubtedly many travellers would prefer, was their destination. I'm glad and lucky that it was mine. Thank you Taj.

We were not overnight guests, just went in to see the magnificence and beauty, and man was it ever. We ended up sitting down and having some drinks and appetizers and a dessert. Everything was great. Staff was pleasant and took very good care of us throughout our visit.

A spectacular hotel. The entire staff - from security to bell service, front desk staff to housekeeping - everyone offers only the highest levels of customer service. The architecture and decor are beautiful. The breakfast buffet offers everything you could ever desire to start your day (and more!). If you want to treat yourself to a luxurious stay in Colaba, this is your destination!

Very courteous staff. Had a business meeting in the business center first. the conference rooms are really lavishly designed. Although the projector had a lot of glitches in color consistency. We had booked a room for parents as their anniversary gift. The palace rooms are lovely with so much of history in it! Loved it overall.

The original five star hotel as far as i am concerned. Absolutely fantastic ambience, brilliant food, courteous and friendly staff.

It was a place we used to frequent as children when we would be taken there by an indulgent uncle.
It was victim of a vicious terrorist attack a few years ago and many people were killed in cold blood.
The energy there after the attack felt full of fear and very heavy for a long time... Though after our last visit there it feels like old times again.

The Taj Mahal Palace is just as grand and impressive as you'd imagine and from the moment you arrive it's clear you're in for a special treat.

I have to admit I knew very little about the hotel before arriving. My colleague and I had some meetings in Mumbai and we booked here simply because of its close proximity to our first meeting. So you can imagine the surprise when our driver pulled us up to this impressive palatial structure.

Right from check-in you're made to feel special with a traditional necklace and welcome drink. My colleague and I were upgraded from tower rooms to the palace which I really appreciated. We were then given a tour of the hotel and told about its rich history. The hotel grounds are beautiful, the pool area is a quiet sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Bombay. We were also welcomed to take part in the morning yoga classes that take place there each morning.

The rooms were spacious, very luxurious and had every amenity you could ever hope for. The entrance and bath were decorated with fresh rose petals which was a lovely touch. I'll attach some pictures to this review which hopefully will do it justice.

We enjoyed some drinks in the hotel bar before dining in the Indian restaurant. Food was great. Certainly not cheap by any means but of course that is to be expected in a hotel of this caliber.

If I had to name a negative point it was that the sound proofing in the rooms was poor. I was woken several times throughout the night by doors slamming and other guests walking through the hallways. It's a historic property so I understand this will always be a factor. However I am sure more could be done to soundproof the doors.

That being said it was a minor niggle and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. My only regret was it was just for the one night and as I had meetings the entire time I never had a proper chance to enjoy the facilities. Next time...

The grandeur! The service provided is worth appreciating, makes every penny worth. The welcome, the stay was pleasant. Ambience was pitch perfect, be it by the poolside or the lounge. Rooms could be tight but you wouldn't feel so, thanks to the soaring high ceilings. Reaching your rooms is another engaging journey down the maze of alleyways, inner courtyard and quarter turn stairwells. This is place is more than just bunking in for the night.

Went there in the vicinity with friends who wanted to see Gateway of India. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation and the facade is hardly visible with all the construction work. However, inside, the hotel is as elegant as ever. Went to the cafe and had an enjoyable and sumptuous Indian meal. The staff was very friendly and one of them took us through the rather tragic terrorist attack at the property many years back. Food was excellent, setting was wonderful and it was the 'Taj' elegance all the way. Strolled around and took a few pictures. Pricey, but highly recommended.

This hotel is outstanding and the staff are so welcoming and wonderful. We had a view of the pool and inside grounds. The architecture is stunning! The amenities were great and you really feel like royalty with marble bathrooms, large tub and extremely comfortable bed. The Sea Lounge offers great breakfast - I loved all of the Indian dishes! We had the best sushi ever at Wasabi restaurant - it's a must!

We came here after spreading my Grandfather's ashes and after we got speaking to the reception staff who upgraded us for free to the Palace. Every single person there was so kind.
At breakfast the next day someone noticed my Dad wasn't enjoying his breakfast that much, they came over and asked if he wanted something local, like a Dosa and then send off concierge to get us Mumbai's best.

There is a documentary, called Hotel India, if you're going to Mumbai or India, I highly recommend watching it. It explains the ridiculous level of service this place goes to where "nothing is impossible".

The pool is iconic and amazing and the staff are extremely knowledgeable, if you get a chance, do the tour!

Lunch at the Sea Lounge was a phenomenal experience...worth every penny paid. The staff is a class apart and the food as well. One can enjoy a panoramic view of the Gateway of India and the Arabian Sea

Amazing stay in this beautiful hotel, food was great, room was great but best above everything in this hotel was the service the hotel provides. I mean it was the best service I've ever encountered on this planet and easily earns its 5 star rating. Breakfast buffet is a delight in this hotel highly recommended other restaurants. The Golden Dragon is great for dinner and lunch, if you want to maybe meet some Indian celebrities some can be found in the top restaurant Zodiac beautiful place and amazing food. Best brand of hotels in India easily and best Taj Palace.

What new do I say about the Taj Mahal Hotel tgat has not been said already! The entire hotel is so beautifully done up. Loved the ambience and the Heritage quality of the entire place. The staff is warm. Had gone for a special independence day dinner and the menu was right from 1947 and priced very reasonably. The quality of the food is amazing. The view from the restaurant of the sea was breathtaking. Would love to go back there again.

One of the most popular hotels in mumbai. Location and services are pretty good. But the reservations team is sort of unpleasant to deal with. They are slow in responding and not happy with customer queries. I hope Taj management notices this and train their reservations team better.

It's a great hotel, with a tradition of great service and of taking care of its employees. The food at Golden Dragon was particularly good. The food at the harbour bar was OK, not great. But that's a matter of taste, not quality. The quality was excellent.

It was on my bucket list to stay at the Taj Mahal Palace once and so, I made it happen. Loved my stay, the taj hospitality is something I'm already acquainted with.. But this historic building did have some other charm. :)

The comfort and service here are amazing. Even though there are many people staying in the hotel, the staff always made me feel special.

The room was quiet, had the most comfortable bed, and curtains that blocked out all light. The restaurants inside are also fantastic, and I particularly recommend the Harbour Bar's specialty drink "From the Harbour since 1933" along with the story behind it.

Ate at Golden Dragon and my god, that food was done of the best I've eaten in my life. Perfect preparation. High end stuff in terms of ingredients, service and ambiance. Very expensive, but 100% justified and worth it

A wonderful place to stay. I was treated like royalty when I stayed here. The room I had was spotless and very quite. It was a bit expensive but well worth it when staying in this dirty city. Mumbai is a brilliant city full of energy and sleaze. It was great to come back to my wonderful room after a spending the day in a chaotic city environment such as Mumbai. I recommend this hotel to anyone willing to splurge a few extra sterling for the night. Cheers.

We had our 5th Wedding Anniversary @ Taj Mahal Palace. It was an a wonderful experience. Actually it was our dream to have lunch over there. Great place. They will prepare the food according to our tastes and likes.. After all Hotel provide us with an Anniversary cake.

Historic luxury hotel, witnessed all kind of types of travellers from ordinary to head of state. Was staying here first time in 1998, long time ago! Still remember fondly my room 1809 (stay for 6 months). Great location & nice walking around as in South Mumbai!

Best hotel I have ever stayed at.

Which ended up with probably the most expensive hotel bill I've ever seen. But totally worth it.

I utilised the facilities to the fill and had a massage, used the pool, ate in the restaurants, and had breakfast here too.

It was slightly eerie setting the halls that were on the news a few years ago, but they have company rebuilt the damaged parts leaving an extra special hotel.

We started in the palace side with a sea view. If you can stretch that far, do the same.

Truly an amazing place to be. Stayed here a couple of weeks ago. And bam this place is one hell of a getaway. So amazing. No words could describe being here.

This place is something that makes us proud.....it was my first visit and I must say me n my wife wud love to visit at least once in a year.....one must visit this place to witness the high level of hospitality which they have maintained.....
Each and every staff member greets you wherever they see you.....they r very happy to help....

Had been here for a family event. Few words cannot describe my experience. Its one of the resplendent property anyone visiting/staying in Mumbai should experience once in his/her life.

We were assembled on the 18th floor for the event. And the view from top is spectacular - you feel royally mighty as well as soulful at the same time.

The event went very well giving us pleasant memories to look back upon. I need not say about the ambiance and food - it was simply superb !

The Taj Mahal Palace is an excellent combination of Heritage, Luxury, Ultra Comfort and Royalty. The boasts of an excellent location with an beautiful view of the Arabian Sea and the Gateway of India. The 100 years old hotel offers rooms with beautiful architecture which is well maintained from the last 100 years and gives you a feeling of living in the palace. Retaining its heritage its not behind any available modern amenity. Taj is home to all the state visitors from around the world who come to Mumbai, be it Bollywood or Hollywood its almost a must stay destination for them.

Very historic place. They have fantastic restaurants and coffee. The view from the second floor has a beautiful view of the Gateway To India.

Located opposite to the Arabian Sea. The hotel is clearly visible from the Gateway of India. It is approximately 5 minutes in walking distance from Gateway of India and 3.4 km from the Marine Drive.

The rooms are provided with free Wi-Fi, good service with warm welcome. Marble bathrooms are present in the hotel and access to a private lounge serving drinks and appetizers. Suites provide living rooms, and the presidential suite provides a spa and a fitness room.

Hotel is good.. u got multiple options for restauransts and cafes...
I tried veg lunch at MASALA KRAFT.
It was good.. quantity is less if u compare with normal restaurants.. its a fine dine.
Taste is good but limited menu.

Warm hospitality. Excellent service. Great food. Wonderful view from the breakfast room, with the Gate of India at a few meters. Magnificent architecture (I've been on the old palace). Congratulations to all the employees working there. 4 hours city tours organized by the hotel. Probably the best hotel I've ever been.

This place has a great aura and excellent quality of stay. Went to Shamiana for dinner. Dinner was decent, but taste of food was not worth the money. One of the staff member very rudely tried to show us out of the hotel while we were having a look at the statues and photos inside the hotel, and after confronting him, he asked us to show the bill of restaurant and only then allowed us to stay. I think this behavior of staff is bad and does not suit to the reputation.

The best hotel I've stayed at period...unmatched service and everything you need at a simple call. Great rooms and impeccable service. Worth the money as it is an example of what a hotel should be.

I can say the Best Hotel in India. Interiors are THE BEST 👌, staffs are so polite and helpful. And has some rare collection of vintage antiques those were very good to see. Must have once in the Lifetime experience👍.

You can stay in either the palace side or the tower. The palace looked more regal, but I loved the lobby of the tower (I don't know what the rooms look like). That scent in the lobby is absolutely intoxicating. The palace lobby is nice too, but more cramped.

It's old school which I like.

It's where people are well mannered, where you get a smile from everyone and a good morning from most.

It's where the rooms are comfortable, well kept and cared for by staff that know what they're doing and do it quietly and with style.

It's where you can meet nice interesting people yet still be private should you want.

We'll be back.
